Description
The MC3423 is a precision overvoltage protection and crowdbar sensing circuit designed to protect sensitive electronic circuitry from excessive supply voltages and transients. It senses an overvoltage condition and in conjunction with an external crowbar SCR, rapidly engages the SCR to short the supply — causing current limiting, fuse blowout, or breaker opening. The device’s protection threshold is adjustable and programmable for minimum overvoltage duration to enhance noise immunity.
